Design a fresh new label series for local winery. The goal was to have completely diverse and artistic looks for each flavor of wine. The three flavors were Raspberry Champagne, Blackberry Wine and Pink Magnolia Wine. There were no limitations on style or color, only legal necessities for the back labels to be in compliance with regulations. The label sizes are moving from rectangle to square for a more contemporary look.
Research competition and create a unique identity, including brand name, logo and packaging for a tea company. The infinity sign was chosen to represent long lasting flavor. In comparing existing tea packaging, there is very little artistic display, so the direction became an expression of color and art on the box. This would help the product to stand out, while keeping traditional box and bag shapes
The packaging design incorporates a bag with resealable closure for the loose leaf tea. The bag is kept a kraft color so the colors can pop out from the logo and color associated with each flavor.
Logo and identity creation for a home-based business with growing sales. The request was for quirky and handmade to be the theme, with purple and red colors for punch. Client asked that a heart instead of cupcake be incorporated, since her daughter loves hearts and is the namesake of the company. Flyers, cards, packaging, labels and signage for events are deliverables.
Create a newsletter layout and concept for a travel spot. Use appropriate techniques for multi-column layout with wrapping and mailing section. Create a cohesive theme which relates to the location and use images to convey the messages the articles contain. An integration with regular emails and social media interaction is the eventual goal, so email designs and online newsletter and photo posting were brought in as supplemental pieces.
Develop a campaign for a non-profit organization to promote with design elements and small budget in mind. Make a presentation out of the elements chosen using a Powerpoint animated slideshow and provide leave-behinds. The goal of this charity is to create, maintain and help educate people about local neighborhood gardening. There is a need for social media marketing and community imagery to promote new gardens. There are several soft goods and some tool sets to sell in order to raise funds.
Digital photography can be both part and whole in graphic design. Elements like texture, color and even emotion can be captured through the lens. Used as stand alone or part of a design project, photography is about timing, luck and creativity. Whether it is landscape, products, portraits or wildlife, this is the aspect of design that is most fun and flexible.

One of the important parts of Graphic Design using layers is texture and pattern application. Being able to create a pattern through the camera lens is a fun and creative way to enhance an image or background. Patterns and textures can be blended with other elements to turn a simple photo or image into a beautiful new and unique design element.
Every single day I see something beautiful in nature. From the birds in the back yard to food grown on a farm there can be something that catches my eye and needs to be captured. Every one of these items was photographed either in the yard, the woods nearby or the market down the road.
Two things I am asked to do a lot are take portraits of pets and children, something most people hold very close to their hearts. In using the images for marketing, an emotional trigger can be very important and useful. Being able to promote a product for a client can be a straight forward shot that gets enhanced afterwards, or an artistic arrangement for more drama and interest.
Finding new and interesting architecture is my newest adventure in photography. I love old and dilapidated buildings, but modern and practical is useful for marketing. The bottom right image is a home I completely re-landscaped and groomed for photos for the real estate market promotion. While the metal tree sculpture is not real landscape per se, it is a striking and beautiful mimic of nature. I am finding out more about these two elements as I wander around the city and parks finding beauty.
These are some of the recent projects and miscellaneous projects with some fun and frivolous mixed in. Showcasing techniques using shapes and image layering to produce scenes in 3D and mock posters and ads.
Some of these took hours of being frozen in the woods, some are spontaneous and candid but all are animals that make me so happy to capture.
